How to best continue this position?

Boy, I sure got a tongue lashing there.
And BTW Cogwheel (your quote #44), 6. Nxg6 is an absolute howler - and you wrote this up ?....hilarious !....U know ?....I actually feel kinda 4u. But, you'll be okay knowing analysis isn't your string suit. Your ego makes up for it........
....and for the record ?....you'll be tracking everything we say from here. So don't lie to me.
Nxg6 is the best move, IMO. Cogwheel's analysis is decent, and I recommend you check it out and see for yourself. Is your resulting position better than Cogwheel's? I don't think so, and for the record, neither does my computer...also, it is easier to play Black in your position.
Fine. So TGL did not come up with any halfway decent analysis (you know, with moves and stuff) but mystical computer-bashing instead.
The "assume good faith" has worn off.

I will only respect computers when we can haul them by Radio Flyer wagon down to our OTB tournaments.
And BTW, your name "IT" obviously stands for YKW - so I'm probably talking to someone impressed w/ anything silicon.
Gawd forbid, turn your bluestocking bozo box on when ur 2 lazee for organic analysis. In the end, those stoopit towers won't make you magically better. Why ?....'cuz everyone else has one too. Ask any titled player.
We all need to sit down and create our own happy little novelties. Isn't this what chess is all about ? Create and imagine over winning and losing. Winning will follow (if that's important to u - altho' creating is more important to me )
(p.s. Neither u nor Cogwheel nor b2 are impressing me w/ ur ratings. Is it time 2 try something new ?)

You do have to learn counting the pieces, IMO. Regards.
I was talking about the best move from that position. We all know that TGL's line loses the piece. I was responding to her bashing of Cogwheel's 4.Nxg6.
When I looked at the chessboard back then, I didn't run it thru some silicon analysis nor did I do a board setup. I thought I saw a semi-immediate combination....a way to harrass/trap black's rook while launching a minority attack. It still may be in there....but I'm no better than anyone else if I find it w/ Houdini or some brick-n-mortar continuated setup.
Like I said b4. OTB ?....I would still let the bishop go - to this day....on my personal chess philosophy alone. And no, I may never be a 2200 player as a result, but at least I sleep well at nite knowing I played my game w/ panache.
And the end of all this ?....just cynical critics saying "Oh that shouldn't be done silly"....and stuff like that. Well, instead of sitting a'O ganging up, critisizing, and asking why ?....start asking urself "Why not ?". Maybe it'll elevate your game - but that'll come at the expense of setting aside your precious ego (scared to lose ?). Which you may not have what it takes to do so.
Think....It took me awhile too....It'd have taken Tal, ohh, probably 15-20 minutes here. You're looking for a violent, game-ending combo - it's not that...it's more petite....but decisive.
Would Tal have retreated (especially to f1) ?....He** no. That's for the timid.
Tal would have still have played the best move possible. He didn't just take unecessary risk for the hell of it.
Back to white's move 12.
NoRatingHere's positional squeeze is an excellent idea, based on black's backward c-pawn

You're full of it. Tal played the best move possible for him. I get tired of ppl putting Tal on some above-all pedestal. He was miles from mistake-free. But, he sought creativity thru controlled speculation underpinned w/ instinct. And for that, he should be admired.
It's possible my plan is wrong-headed, but at least I have 1....and I'm not gonna sit a'O waiting 4 something to happen given that position. And for that unprotected rook to float out there on the flats like that ?....Well, it needs to get slapped........
There is a significant difference between a Tal sacrifice that needs twenty Houdini moves to refute it, and a lousy combination that loses a full piece in five moves by multiple possible paths.
You thought you saw something, it wasn't there, well better luck next time. Just move on, instead of digging deeper.

You pick that time "in a few weeks" - and just forget about someone else's game. I wanna see if you can think without that noodle crutch beside you........
Tomorrow. 10 US CST
Black is winning after Rxb2 - he will soon take on e4 and regroup his pieces. The b2 rook may be sacrificed, i.e. Nd3 Nxe4...
