I would study some lines from the queens gambit declined as well. a Lot of openings mainlines are played because players can transpose into ideas from other openings that are considerer = or good for them. This why I think its good to study related structures even if your main focus is on X opening. Nimzo, Queens indian, queens gambit declined

I have Polugayevsky's book on QGD, but I haven't had a read of it. I guess it makes sense to have a bit of a working understanding of QGD and Tarrasch as the Nimzo ...d5 and ...c5 moves put up those sorts of structures. The Lev Alburt / Roman Dzindzichashvili book (Chess Openings for Black, Explained) gives Bogo-indian lines for black vs 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 but so far I haven't had to play any of these.

dont worry too much about things right now,... study the book you have and then use to create a structure to build on and modify as you learn. keep an open mind

I would recommend also getting Pawn structure chess by Soltis. This will give you a structure so that the moves all make sense
