    I recently had a game that went as follows:

    As you can see I played quite poorly and lost quickly! Where was my mistake (I am a beginner) and what should I have done?

    I would agree with Mimchi.  2. ... c6 is ill advised because it doesn't allow you to develop.  Bc5, b6, Nf6 etc are all better.
