OK first of all, this game had a ten minute clock on each side. My opponent could have given me a lot more trouble if he had played more accurately under the pressure. That said, he botched it pretty early on before there was much pressure.

 

I haven't played King's Gambit much, so this was very experimental for me. I haven't studied the line at all, either. One of my biggest weaknesses has always been positional understanding and strategy.  I have been working on that the last couple of days, and already my game has improved in a huge way. Chess Mentor is really a great resource.

 

Here's the game. I won't comment on it right now, I have to go shower, but check back later for my own analysis :)

There was the slightly quicker (since it doesn't allow spite checks) and rather prettier 33 Qh8+ Kxh8 34 Rf8+ Qg8 35 Rh1 mate.

 exactly. after 5 e5, I'd say it's transposed into an Alekhine.
