    4. ...Nd7 is pretty typical for black. 5. Ng5 was a mistake; you should have just developed normally with 5. Nf3.

    c5 is black's counter-attack. Again, pretty standard.

    17. Rh1 is a passive move. Black probably wouldn't have even played 17. ...Qxh2 because it opens up the H file for your rooks to attack his kingside, and it puts the queen in a vulnerable position after f4, etc. etc.

    Also, use your minor pieces to support the advance of your pawns. Use your pawns to push your opponent back. 17. ...b5, for example.

    From the very start I find that the Advance Variation is always a more reliable approach to the Caro Kann.  [3. e5]

    Thats not you getting owned by the caro kann.  That is you getting owned by rybka.  I just wanted to point that out in case you didn't recognize the difference.
