I played my 2nd ever OTB tournament game recently and lost on time. I played as black. I know I made a few blunders, but is my position here hopeless or did I have a chance for a draw if I hadn't run out of time?

    Thanks for any comments.

ur position is hopeless. Kb3 is a good move for white here. even if u win the exchange theĀ  passed a pawn will win the game for white.

But if Kb3 then I could have got rid of the passed pawn.

If he pushes the pawn straight away then I think it would have been hopeless.

    After 41.Kb3 Bxa5 42.Kxa4 you're just a rook down, which is hopeless.

41.Kb3 Nc5+ 42.Kxc3 Nxd7 43.a6 Nb6 44.Kb4 and the king just walks to the knight, then the pawn promotes.

But pushing it first looks hopeless as well, yes.

    A few comments:

    1. You were hugely out rated (1450 againstĀ 1989 by my reckoning) and put up a fair show.

2.The final position is dead lost for Black.

    3. I think you missed a tactical shot:

    24 Bf1? Rxd4!

    25 Bxd4 Nf3+

    26 Kg2 Nxd4

    and you're back in it.

Thanks for all the comments. Guess it was hopeless.

PrawnEatsPrawn, yeah I missed that. My opponent pointed it out to me after the game.
