1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Be3 {Sicilian Najdorf}

Ng4 7. Bd2 {This is the first move that isn't common at the Grandmaster level.

Moving the bishop to d2 leaves the knight on d4 unprotected.  Black does a

good job taking advantage of this with 7...Qb6.} (7. Bg5 h6 8. Bh4 g5 9. Bg3

Bg7 {is the main line with a fairly equal position.}) 7... Qb6 $1 {Three

threats here.  ...Qxb2, ...Qxd4 and ...Qxf2++ if the d4-knight moves.} 8. f3 {

The best move.} Qxd4 9. fxg4 e6 10. Qf3 {Here Black should be thinking about

White castling queenside.  If we aren't prepared White will gain some time on

our queen.} b5 (10... Nd7 11. Be3 Qf6 {is a slight improvement on the game

line.  Black should develop the minor pieces before pushing the b-pawn.}) 11.

Be3 Qf6 12. Qxf6 gxf6 $11 13. Bd4 Ke7 {Nice king move!} 14. Bd3 Bg7 15. g5 Nd7

16. O-O h6 17. gxh6 Rxh6 18. Rf2 Bb7 19. Raf1 Rah8 {The doubling of the rooks

on the h-file is a great idea for Black.  If we look at White's minor pieces,

which of them are strong?  The d4-bishop is the only good minor piece right

now.  If Black plays ...Ne5 it not only centralizes the knight, but leaves

White's pieces in a bind.} 20. h3 Rg6 21. Kh2 Nc5 ({A slightly better move is}

21... Bh6 {with the idea of doubling on the g-file now that the h-pawn is

pushed.} 22. Nd1 Rhg8 {with a clear advantage for Black.}) 22. Bxc5 dxc5 23. b3

f5 {Great move!  Activating the g7-bishop to e5!} 24. Ne2 Be5+ {and White is

in trouble!} 25. Kh1 Rh7 26. exf5 Rxh3+ $3 27. Kg1 Bh2+ 28. Kh1 Bg3+ 29. Kg1

Bxf2+ 30. Kxf2 Rxg2+ 31. Ke1 Rgh2 32. f6+ Ke8 33. a3 e5 34. Rf5 Re3 35. Kd2 Rf3

36. Rxe5+ Kf8 37. Rxc5 Rxf6 38. Kc3 Rc6 39. Rxc6 Bxc6 40. b4 Bf3 41. Ng3 Rg2

42. Nf5 Rg5 43. Nd4 Bd5 44. Bf5 Bc4 45. Bc8 Rg3+ 46. Kb2 Rg6 47. Bb7 Ke8 48.

Nc6 Bd5 49. Ne5 {This was a strong game by nyLsel.  Out of the opening I would

like to see the minor pieces developed more quickly with 10...Nd7.  Also on

move 19 there was a chance to switch the rooks to the g-file for an attack.

Overall though Black played a great game and was tactically sound.  There was

no chance for White to take the initiative which is important.} 0-1

Where's the cool little diagram thing with all the moves you can punch onto?

Timmy62

This is a test in visualization Andy, I for one agree with the computer here.

Yes it's a test of visualization.

AndyClifton

I did however manage to do pretty well on the test of annotation.
