This is my third game in a tournament, against a much older, much better player. Please tell me what you think of my play!

Hi, dc1985!

I'm not sufficiently qualified to offer a constructive analysis, but suffice it to say, it was a nice win, way above your ELO of 978!!! Cool

Agreed,,, you played well.  I am kinda wondering, though, why he pushed that pawn in the first place?  It had the look of futile desperation...

Thanks Joe, my rating is pretty high, I believe. In this tournament, I have beaten a 1500, beaten this 1700, and drawn a 1750. Thanks Rob, I noticed when I played 4.d5, he hesitated a little. Thank you for your comment!

Thanks Minzz0, but what are you trying to say there:)? Silent, I agree that move is pretty... pointless. It gave me the winning position, and for that I am thankful!

Its not a forced mate in three, but its a forced mate in three or part with the queen (Qe2, Nd1-e3 both stave off mate).  Solid job, I can't find any large mistakes on your part.
