    Hello forum,

i recently annotated one of my losses and i am still unsure about what exactly went wrong. If anybody is willing to help it is highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

P.S.: The opening was (almost) a Scotch Four Knights, maybe someone knows his way around there.

I think your analysis is quite good, so you already know what went wrong--a gradual drift into passivity. 16...Rab8 was the start. After 16...b6 it looks about even.

18...Nf5 looks like a mistake after 19.Bg5, but as the game went, things were about even. As you point out, 32...g5? wasn't good. In fact, you have managed to get almost all your pawns on the same color as your Bishop, something the books usually warn against.

I think you overlooked a move in your analysis of 35.Nd2 (instead of 25.e4) After 35...Bg3 36.Ne4 Be5, White has the powerful 37.Nxg5! because the f-pawn is overworked

Thanks for your kind words, you are right about 18. ... Nf5. In retrospect 18. ... Qf5 would have been better, because after 19.Qxf5 Nxf5, the knight is now somewhat better on f5 due to the missing threat of Bg5.

And you are right about 32. ... g5, but i was already losing there in my opinion.

I think the 35.Nd2 line can be repaired with 35. ... Be5 36.Ne4 h6. But well, he didn't play it anyway Frown

    Thanks again for your help.
