3...d6 is the old steinitz.  I think 4.d4 is the critical line against it.

Probably 13.b3 hitting the knight is best, followed by h3.

I dont agree with 15.Nd2.  Spending a tempo to exchange a good piece of yours for a weak opposing piece.  Instead, Nh4 wins the bishop pair.  You opponent should have exchanged, rather than putting the knight back to a5 where it is right out of the game.  Nf3 then offers to repeat the position or allow black to reposition his knight for free, whichever he feels is best.

17. you can still win the bishop pair with Nh4.

19. I think taking the bishop is stronger.

I dont understand a3.  A mistake perhaps.  The pawn is pinned along the a file.  I think Nxd7+ is better.

21...c4 is a mistake.  Taking the pawn is better.

22.Kh8 seems to be a pointless waste of a move.  Maybe hoping for a blunder, who knows.  Allows a5.  All I can see is it slightly frees black up for in-between moves after Nxe7, which would no longer be a check.

Not sure about 25.f3.  seems unnecessary.  I think you can start ganging up on the isolated pawn.  Qc2 attacks the pawn, continues development, connects the rooks.

30. dxc6 is certainly winning, but 30.b6 would have been pretty.

Nice win.

I wish more people resigned to me in positions like that. Oh well. A hazard of being low ratedFrown.

Great manuvering by White. Enjoyed the game. Although i could not see why black resigned in this position. May be the two white passed pawns could not be stopped as it looks imposing, it can reach the coveted 8th file and have a coronation ceremony :)

On move 8 I would send the bishop to b3 instead of your c2.

-  prevents ...d5 with tempo

 - attacks the weak f7 pawn

-Dan

(looks like a fun game)
