Hello all - haven't posted in a while, or been playing all that much, (hence my suffering rating - lol). However, I'm starting to get back into it - and I appreciated this victory over my higher rated opponent - so swiftly and decisively.
As a matter of fact, that is what I wish to explore- how decisive was it really? Was my opponents taking of the knight a sheer blunder (well I guess so since afterwards it was mate in two ) or was black doomed to loose in under 20 moves anyway?... Aggression, sheer agression was what I liked about this one - let me know what you think since I'd like to keep what was right, and avoid whatever was wrong myself in the future!
Thanks - enjoy:
So yeah - comments welcomed, and analysis of black (or white's) dubiousness please!
Thanks.
Svekke
No, black wasn't really doomed to lose in less than 20 moves..But anyway...
1...b6?! seems a bit passive, 1...e5 or 1....d5 seems better
4.e5 is truly interessting since the g8-knight can't get to his favorite spot on f6.
I'd prefer 4...Bb4 as you said or 4....d5 with 5...c5 in mind.
6....Be7 isn't bad, but I'd rather would say 7.Bxg6, since you give away your good bishop for a knight that wasn't really passive. Also black would get the open h-file now, and thus activates his rook...
7...fxg6?!, 7...hxg6 is better.
8.h4 is an agressive move, but keep in mind that black still can castle on the queenside leaving you with a weak kingside. At this point, I'd have played d5, c5, Qc7, Nc6 and 0-0-0 as black. 0-0 seems reasonable if black can open the center in time.
11...c5 get's my vote, 12.h5 isn't really a big threat, since you can play 12...h6 and let it be like this.
13...hxg5 is ofcourse a blunder, but 13...c5 is still good.
