Hi there. My chess club turned 125 this year and to celebrate, a simultaneous display was organised against Richard Palliser IM. The setup involved 24 boards made up of both Ilkley chess club members and a few top players in the area. Richard played white on all boards, and each player had to make a move as soon as he arrived at their board. My goal was to last 15 moves! Here was my game...

I consider this to be one of my most enjoyable games to play. As always, all comments and suggestions are most welcome.

    All the best

You played extremely well in this game. It's possible to quibble about a move here or there, but basically, you stood up well to his attempt to build a mating attack using the h-file. (By the way, I think the point of 14.Kf1 is to continue with g3 and Kg2 so that he can castle by hand without moving his rook of the h-file).

You kept your composure and your focus through the entire game and you can congratulate yourself on a fine result

Thanks very much paulgottlieb, and thanks for the explanation of 14.Kf1. I appreciate that it wasn't a particularly attacking game from black, but a draw has offered me the chance to become noticed in my local chess club, which can only be a good thing! A chance to play in a few more tournaments is always welcomed.
