Hi! I just started to analyse my games afterwards with Shredder. What do you think about it? I like how it gives you a diagram showing who has the upper hand during the game, thus revealing where mistakes were made etc.
But do you think there are other good tools for game analysis in Shredder or some other program? One feature in Shredder makes the computer go through the game and suggest other lines, but that is quite too much information to go through. I would like AI-generated text messages, like : "here, you weaken your position because you allow... etc", or "this will allow your opponent to eventually gain material", or even "Key move, well done!".
What's analysis tool would you suggest?

I don't think a program exists that can give detailed verbal comments on your games. If you want lessons, Chess Mentor and other training software have descriptive comments that have been written by humans, but the positions are not from your own games. Chess engines don't use concepts like pin and pawn storm and open file; these are shortcuts that allow humans to narrow down the moves we consider. Computers can go ahead and look at every move. So the answer is that for descriptive feedback, you need a human. That's what this Game Analysis forum is all about.

A program does exist. It's called Chessmaster! It's not considered on par with Shredder, I don't think, but it is a fantastically strong and fun and cheap chess engine. Hope that helps.
Here are some pretty good tips about Chessmaster, and certainly more informed than I can provide (I don't own it). http://www.chess.com/article/view/mcchess-chessmaster-9000 Hope this helps More.
Thanx! I'll check out Chessmaster!
