    Here is yet another OTB chess game which I finished yesterday. Played this at the beach in the sun, so my brain might have been fried a little so that could explain some bad moves I might have played. :)

    Analysis highly appreciated. Anybody who wants to post can do so.

    I am playing the white pieces, and I tried the Rossolimo variation once again (3.Bb5).

    I hope you enjoyed the game and hopefully it was not too boring.

    I'll post more games another time.

    Cheers & Don't forget to post.

    yeah what's up with that rating, you've played a ton of games, have won most of them and your best win is against a 2500!  Did you somehow get a ratings reset?

    Yes, I did get my ratings reset.

    Now can we please stay a little bit more on topic?

    Thank you!

    5. Q:d4 is played more often with the idea of taking on c6 and castling long.

    9. Bg5 was an alternative, to keep the Nd5 idea alive.

    After 13. ...h6 I think Black is simply better. In this set-up the rook is better posted on f1 and it's also not clear what the knight is doing. Meanwhile Black can start his play on the queenside

    14. ... b4 is still OK for Black, I think

    How would 12...Ng4 be winning for Black?

    Thanks for posting my friend!

    Yes, 5. Qd4 is a more played move, but I didn't want to bring out my Queen yet. A personal choice. :P

    I had actually considered 9. Bg5, but after ..Be7 I though the bishop would have been a bit useless there, but I guess not.

    Yes, after the game we analyzed the game a little bit and we commented that he should have played ..h6 before to kick the knight, which as you pointed out would have been favourable for black.

    14..b4 would have been the best move for black, yes.

    I have to admit, black held the advantage for a while, and I made many bad moves:(, but somehow I won.

    Thanks for posting again, my friend. :) Thanks alot.

    Sincerely,

    Jeremy

    @Khpa:

    After 12..Ng4, 13. Qe2, ..Bf6!, 14. Na4 (Kh1), ..b5! (Nxe3) and black has a good advantage because he regains a pleasant initiative.

    @jvan:

    Yeah, you're right about the rook being placed better on f1. I actually regretted putting it on e1 after I played 10. f4. :P

    4.d4 has been played by Topalov, so not to be scoffed at.

    I agree that 5.Qd4 is the commonest, been played by Topalov and Ivanchuk

    12.Bf1 is the thematic & positionally correct continuation in Rossolimo

    12...Ng4 would definitely have given black the initiative

    13.Ng5 looks a tad premature, and refuted by h6

    14...Nb4 was a tactical mistake - I agree b4 was probably best here

    15...Nxd3 was a graver one (axb5 needed), and losing the game

    17...Ra8 was a blunder (h6 or Ng4 needed here, but the game was already lost anyway)

    A great game, Jeremy!

    Hey Laskerfan! Sorry for not talking to you earlier. :)

    Thanks for posting and I agree with you on all points.

    You should have a look at the Ruy Lopez one I posted, and we should have another game sometime!
