In this game, Black tried to play a Hyper-Accelerated Dragon but did very poorly. Could there be some better

 defence?

Problem is...Thats not the Hyper-Accelerated Dragon. Thats just the plain old sicillian.

The title of this forum is a bit off.  This should be titled something like "why accelerated isnt always better."  In fact, there are many better sicilian variations to the accelerated dragon, which is considered generally to be refuted by white.

Walking the tightrope in the dragon!! A number of inaccuracies on both sides with 18...Be5 being the decider. Any Ne5 on move 14 and black is still in with a fighting chance, though as you correctly observed the opening line was ended by blacks 5th. Great play, thanks for publicising.

Thank You

The accelerated Dragon performs very poorly anyway against the Moroczy Bind - the stats show something like 80% wins for White in those positions.
