There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with Nxh6+. It's just that 26. b3! is much stronger.

I bet Morozevich was expecting Nxh6+ too.
I see now. His plan was to strip him of that rook. He was completely defanged after that. No need for Nxh6 since he had material advantage anyway.

After 26 Nxh6+ Kg7 Black would now have an outlet for his rook after 27 b3 Rd4. 26 b3 is a much nicer move: the rook is trapped, since it can't play to d4 or g4 (with the knight still on f5).
