I've been wanting to teach my brother chess for a while, but I was wondering how good he was in the eyes of the chess.com community (this was his first game (10-0 timed) in here. Also, I've been wondering what to focus on. Thanks for the help.

It's hard to tell because the opponent was clearly worse and practically giving away pieces. Your brother took advantage of those blunders and defended against obvious threats. Nice to hear you've infected your brother with enthusiasm for chess :)

Focus on his love and enjoyment of the game.  Encourage him, and let him know how proud you are of him.  Keep us posted on his progress!!

teach him basic development principles.  His 3 and 4th moves violate those principles.

I think that you teach him tactics, because most games under the skill of 1700-1800 are decided by hanging pieces, forks, skewers, back rank mate, etc, etc

Also, his 3rd and 4th moves are just passive. They don't "violate any principles"

oh god d3 and Qe2 really do need to be fixed, but otherwise a fairly solid game in the way that he capitalized on errors and played (mostly) sound positional moves. I'd reccomend a specific opening to be learnt (eg. 2 nights defence/italian in this particular scenario with Bc4 INSTEAD OF d3 and Qe2 which were weak positional errors (blocking movement of bishop of losing tempo)) but some opening knowlege could help ^^ keep encouraging him and...yeah keep posting stuff about his progress..games and such

I think he would need to play against something that is measurably strong before we could determine how 'good' he is... wait a minute; isn't that what grade is for? Cool  He isn't bad: but a lot of work to be done.

I was wondering if you might be willing to tell me how i can put a game into a blog of mine. I just posted a blog, hoping the game i was trying to show, would be in there, but it wasn't, just the pgn. I tried following the directions, but I didn't figure it out. Help please!

When I first started playing chess seriously, the Winning Chess Series by GM Yasser Seirawan was an immense help to me. GET them. His chess will grow by leaps and bounds, guaranteed.
