I gave the OP three suggestions. You provided none, except for some Mother Hen comments. Great Job?
Thanks for the advice, it's appreciated. The more help the better. :)
The OP's play is Scary Bad.
Read the following two books closely, and come back to the forums later.
The play in that game was just awful. Time to hit the books, they will improve your play, by leaps and bounds.
P.S., Set your open challenge parameters for plus and minus 150 rating points. Playing someone that weak (rated 960, as per above) is an utter waste of your time.
At least I'm scary, that's a step in the right direction.
Thanks for the book suggestions, just bought both off Amazon as soon as I read your post. As far as the 960 rated player he's a co-worker, it wasn't a random challenge. Like I said above, my rating only is what it is from winning a correspondence game against a much higher rated opponent because he had no computer access and ran out of time.
I'll play anyone, any rating, doesn't matter to me. The more experience I get the better. If you want to stomp me and tell me why I made it possible, even better.
Good Attitude. Just cut through the blather endemic to these forums, and improve your game.
With the Glicko rating system, it pays to set your parameters at 300 points wide, otherwise the lower rated players (200 points less) just put a drag on your rating improvement.
No need to set any upper limit, but (in that case) be prepared to take your lumps.
