I'm sorry- it is considered cheating to ask for help on a game in progress. Practically any outside comment about your game could tip your decision-making process and that's technically cheating. Don't worry about it though - maybe you can just close the thread or delete the OP and everything should be fine Smile.

Cheers and good luck in your game

This yields an interesting question to arise, at least in my mind; is it really cheating if he's looking for opinions on a position that has already been passed up? Sure, he may have to specify verifications for them to not go deeper into the line that he played, but nonetheless, it seems safe to me. Then again, conservative-types, or the majority, may just bark a commanding "No! Don't take the risk." but I'd really like to see a verdict on this from the Team.

Dakota_Clark: Of course it is! It's all too easy to make comments on the position that would still be relevant.

An example, plucked out of thin air, say his opponent had an isolated d-pawn, and someone made some comments on how that could be attacked. Even five or six moves later, these comments could still be very relevant. We must wait until a game has concluded to ensure something like that doesn't happen.

Even generalised comments about isolated d-pawns could help him spot something in the game.

Well yeah, but that's just being too restrictive. If I was playing a game with an isolated d-pawn (I probably have at least one) I wouldn't refrain from reading any threads on the matter! I'd barely have anything to read at all if that were the case!

    5.  Never post a game or a position from a game that is ongoing.  Asking for help with ongoing games is unsportsmanlike and unethical.  Need we say more?

I copied the rule above from "Read This Before You Post" Smile I should have read this before.
