This is a turn-based game I played against demetrios18. We discussed the game briefly after we finished, and he asked me to post it. I included annotations based on thoughts from both myself and my opponent. Any input appreciated.
Wow now seeing it play again looked like a great game. Seeing it from your side of view, I can view your weakness easily and saw one major mistake I did and should of took a gamble. On move 22, i should have played Nd6- Ne4 to attack. That attack would attack queen and rook with next move king being checked. What do you think about that move and do you think it would of been a major turning point of game. Would that move increase my chances of wining?
22...Nde4 allows 23. Nxg6+! Kg8 24. Qc4+ Nd5 25. Ne7+ Kf8 26. Nxd5, when your queen is threatened. I guess you could try 26...Qxb2 27. Rf1, but it doesn't look too good.
22. Ne4 is bad as gabrielconroy explained. Ne4 on moves 20 or 21 should've worked.
Isnt the N/e7 misplaced in the modern benoni ? I think it would be more useful on f6 attacking the p/e4 and allowing a rook on e8 to do the same...
Yep. Nf6 is the standard move. demetrios18 is the only person I've seen who plays Ne7 in that position.
I play the combo closed sicilian Benoni. I like Ne7 because it gives more center color of light squares as well as leaves my dark bishop on G7 to control center on dark center sqaures. This allows me to castle and have a strong king side which looks similar to an indian defense. Looking at this game I thought my knights were well place in firm control of center to attack and defend. My only mistake in the game was not making use of the queen. In Sicilian queen should be on C7 but in this game it was useless. The reason I protected pawn on last move and giving up getting mated was that I was hoping opponent wouldnt see it while keeping my pawns in tact because if not, I would of gave up that pawn and would lose in end game.
NICE~
