Pretty simple combination considering that queen is in line with the unguarded King . All you need is to remove your bishop with a check to win the queen for a rook (in this case black chose to get checkmated instead!).

black can do better by playing 2..Nc6 then 3.Re1 and white should "only" get a queen for a rook, and still a strong presence on the e-file after something like

3..Qe7 4. Rxe7 Nxe7 5.Bxc6+(trading while ahead should be good) bxc6  6.Qe1.

I agree. Develop with Knight c6 and change the queen for the root. The whites lost the castle as I can see. If you achived your castle and protect your King, you still would have a pretty good chance to win.

I think blocking the Bishop check with a pawn is better. That way, when the Queen is gone, you have exchanged Queen and Pawn for Bishop and Rook - which is playable. Wink

I think black will not get bishop for a pawn after loosing queen to rook.

1. Bb5+ c6 2. Re1 Qxe1 3. Qxe1+  Kf8  4. Bc4 saves the bishop.

I like the idea of blocking the bishop-check with a pawn as black.

Ha Ha! I didn't even analyze the game - i just "know" that if I am checked in that position, I block with a pawn... almost always. Thanks for the analysis.
