Kaupthing Open Luxembourg. Round 2 of 9.

Time for the games is 90 mins then at move 40 add 30 mins plus add 30 seconds for each move from move one.
Games begin at 9:30 BST. (That is 15 mins from the posting of this message)
Top 7 boards the live games can be seen here

http://www.lecavalier.eu/open/toma/web/broadcast.htm

Yesterday Yelena beat Dirk Koch (2120) in round 1.
Today she plays black against Yuri Drozdovskij (2581)

As in previous relays the board here will be updated every 15/20 mins depending on speed of play and reliability of feed from Kaupthing. So please lets have lots of comments and questions on the game.

The next phase of game is going to be about Na5, which is a classic situation in this line, which Yelena's opponents in European avoided for some reason.

Thank you TwoMove

I am not a great fan of d4 openings so my knowledge is somewhat limited.

but the position looks very constrained and will require some patient and careful play

Thinking about e5, followed by f5 to try and get counterplay. Looks bad to block bishop,s diagonal, but it isn,t attacking anything. Must admit dont have much idea on how to play these KID positions.

Umm, didnt think Yelena would play this because of 19f4 followed by Ng1-f3 preparing e5

I think white could pay for opening the Qside up. Gives Yelena chance to advance on that side now.

I suppose white was worried about pxp followed by Rb2? Now Yelena can play22..c4 23pxp Nxp unless there are problems with pin on knight.

Sadly a loss for Yelena

I think after 22.Bc3 it might have been better to exchange the Bs on c3 and then advance b4.
