Bump for people to see Yereslov hanging a queen after berating someone for missing a bishop capture.

lol I don't think you can comment on others missing a bishop when you miss a queen yourself

I think Yereslov has a very big mouth and he shouldn't berate people for hanging pieces, but this isn't fair either.  I've hung a hundred bajillion pieces in my life especially in blitz and I really don't want people pulling up a single game and saying "Look - you hung a piece.  You're an idiot".

Well, I thought it was necessary after he said he'd never misses easy things like hanging bishops, and he hung a queen in his most recent game.

Perhaps it will shut him up a bit.

I am begining to think his head is proportionate to his mouth too....I can't imagine why though...he has shown little to get anyone to believe he is as special as he tries to be, you would think he would know better...Undecided

I like your attack better than mine!  But you're right, while NxB might be correct objectively (if it indeed is), when attacking, especially in blitz,  you don't look for moves that detract from your plan, even if your plan is only half-formed, but you press the attack.

...first thing that comes into my mind seeing yr avatar I recall that very excellent thread you had (I call it an atricle) about the legendary Mir Sultan Khan. That was for sure a tripple AAA posting! my sincere compliments for that as yet! (...Khan allways fascinated me very much, knew his games, and your article at the time provided so much very interesting additional info, so, yes, was realy great

(..last posting of mine for now since our soccer-team lost tonight from Denmark????..tja...ruined my weekend oally, need some drinks to cope with that one)

A free bishop is easy to spot but not a hanging queen? Oh dear.

A terrible player in what way?

    You can't quantify an anomaly.

Well dont worry, if you made a mistake or not, you either win or you learn, and you learn the most when there is not much time left on your clock and your heart is pounding fast and you are under pressure thats when you learn most

sorry about all the nonsense, batgirl...

i can't ever imagine you wanting to remove your knight from the attack to take a measly bishop on the wrong side of the board in a blitz game.

    an interesting sideline was

    13.Nc6+ bxc6

    14.Ba6 Bc8

15.dxc6 when black would have needed to find 15....Bc5

    but still loses

Taking the bishop was the best move.

The knight was not going to lose an attack by taking the bishop.

Please don't spread nonsense. Both the computer and common sense agree.

    Well-played, Sarah.

I suspect your opponent got flustered countering KG, and as you well know, if you don't know where to put your pieces as black, KG's sharpness is killer. I've played KG against people who play like children, then in a rematch where they play a different opening, they play like FM's.

That said, if your opponent misplays KG, you have to know how to punish it, and that you most certainly did.  It's always wonderful to finish a mate like that.  :)

Thanks, Lisa.  It's funny. I missed the quicker mate, but I much prefer the one I found since it added some fireworks.  I know once someone commented that while Morphy mated in a certaingame, he missed a quicker mate and my immediate thought was that one you see a forced mate, unless it's a composed problem, why look any further for a different one?

Completely agree, if you're certain it's forced.

I've found your threads perplexing, batgirl. How come you always post your blitz rating as 1500+ when it's 1180?

    Lovely ending, by the way.

Actually, my rating where I usually play fluctuates greatly. Just for the record. here's a screenshot from my stats page showing the variation. I gained a bunch of points last week and lost about 120 points since then.

edit:  I only post our ratings to show where we stand relative to each other in a game. While this may or may not accurately reflect reality, it is at least some kind of indicator. If my opponent is rated 1800, he wouldn't have gotten that far being a novice even if his games contain errors and by the same token, if my opponent is rated 875, you would have to expect some very weak play. It's probably not important, but it does give some insight.

My thoughts as well.  Mate in 2.  Mate in 3.  Mate in 4.  They're all mates.

Just a funny (and satisfying) conclusion to a 5/0 game... my opponent was rated somewhat higher.
