Accused of cheating

Couldn't sleep at all last night, so I finally just got up and played chess. That fixes everything. (Not really.)

So I was a little punchy and more than a little fuzzy when the following game happened between me (1358) and the other person (1975). Time controls were 1-minute bullet, no increment. The game was unrated as always.

Time left on my clock was 28 seconds. Immediately following the game, the other party accused me of cheating and says s/he's reporting me. Seriously?

Okay, let's think about this for a minute. If I had been using an engine, I would need to input her(his?) 25 moves into the engine, then input the engine's 26 moves into the Chess.com game. This would require switching between programs 51 times in 32 seconds. I'm not sure that I could manage all that button punching/clicking/dragging/whatever even if I was fully awake and drank a case of Jolt.

    I'm calling poor loser here.

It's possible to cheat in a 1 0 game, but cheating in an unrated game would be fairly uncommon.

I like 17. Nf6+, just didn't see it. Thanks for pointing that out, Fezzik and Senior.

    23. a5+ is met with Kxa5, unless I'm missing something. (EDIT: Yup, I was, see below).

Tbh, your play here on 1 minute does seem stronger than your rating.

dunce, the a5 pawn is guarded by the a1 Rook. I think El_Senior is right about 23. a5#.

Really? Blaming a person for cheating is something we all did when we were 5. Its a life lesson for toddlers. I may offend some people by saying this but is an online chess game That important.

Relatively new to this site and have seen this a few other times. What exactly does the term "troll " or 'trollin" mean ? On here anyway, I know what a troll is in common terms.

This seems to be a reference to Monster-play games (e.g. LOTRO), implying that your opponent behaved like a troll in the original, Neandertal sense of the word.

While observing high rated guys playing 1 0 or 3 0 games some of them are accusing each other constantly of using engine even when both sides are making blunders. I guess some people are sore losers. one very high rated (2900+ bullet) was taunting the other all the time (they played several games) - 'ur engine is crap', 'u can throw ur engine to dustbin' etc. even he was winning all the time. I wonder if you are on drugz - is it cheating?

More importantly, dunce (original poster's name), black really did not put up much of a fight. You destroyed black, but black should be complaining to himself about how horribly he played, not accusing you of cheating just because you nicely (imho) capitalized on his poor play.

It is frustrating if your opponent suddenly seems to have capabilities never evidenced in your previous engagements. But it is hard to know why this is happening. Maybe your opponent only pays attention every once in a while. Or is experimenting on you. Or you may have played like a complete fool for a game. (I'm sure we've all had abysmal losing streaks...what does your opponent think when you turn it around and start playing like yourself again?) etc. It is more fair to just block someone, if you don't trust an opponent, rather than report him for cheating.

The only kind of "cheating" that really bugs me is when you're winning and then your opponent waits for a long time to move, as his clock ticks down...when he moves, his clock jumps back up to the time he had at the beginning of his move, and your clock loses the time he spent. You now lose on time. This could just be a glitch and not your opponent's doing, but you still feel cheated.

I know it's a bullet game, but black just gave away pieces!  I'm no 1900, but wow.  Maybe it was their first bullet game...

btw, I love the reference to Jolt cola.  Haven't thought about that in years.

Another important life lesson is that many people are still 5.

If I were you, I'd report it. That person is probably trying to get revenge for his loss of the game.
