I'm not a really good chess player, so my analysis in sections tend to be very poor or lacking in quality. This game is a game I played on Live Chess as white against a Scandinavian opening. This is just an analysis by an average player.

3.d4 - A common try. Black plays 2...Nc6 (attacking!) or 2...Nf6 with a good game. I've played these lines many times and Black scores quite well.

3...e6? - Your opponent doesn't know how to play the Scandinavian. That's why you won easily. This is a rare and poor move, locking in Black's light-squared bishop. Black should play ...Nc6 or ...Nf6, and develops the bishop before ...e6.

5...Nc6? - Inconsistent. This would've been strong on move two. Black's lost some time so now he should be preventing a d4-d5 break with ...Nf6, then maybe ...c6.

6...f6? "Black prevents Ne5" - Black should be happy to see Ne5. 6...Nf6 7.Ne5 Bd7 and all White gets are doubled isolanis. Much scarier is O-O followed by Bc4 and d4-d5 when (in this poor sideline) Black's position may completely collapse.

7...e5? - So far your opponent only made 2-3 acceptable moves. This is by far the craziest. He's seeking to open the position with his king in the center and lagging development. Terrible. Transposes to Damiano's Defense (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f6).

8.Re1?? - You missed the transposition to Damiano's Defense.

8.Bxc6 bxc6 9.Nxe5! fxe5 10.Qh5+ g6 11.Qxe5+ Ke7 12.Qxh8 wins.

Even stronger...

8.Nxe5!! fxe5 10.Qh5+ g6 11.Qxe5+ Ke7 12.Bc4+ = mate in 3!

Thank you likesforests for the analysis. Greatly appreciated and yes I did notice I missed the transposition into the weak Damiano's Defense.

To likesforests: I agree with most of your comments but I think avarding 8. Re1 two question marks is incredibly harsh. This move was terrible blunder? I don't think so. Most probably white has winning position after Re1 and objectively this moves may not be any weaker than 8. Nxe5. White has such a good position that many ways lead to Rome. For example 8. d5 a6 9. Ba4 b5 10. Nxb5 axb5 11. Bxb5 also looks completely winning.

To Chess_Enigma: after 8. Nxe5 fxe5 9. Bxc6 bxc6 10. Qh5+ Ke7 (10... Kd7 11. dxe5!? +-) 11. Bg5+ Nf6 12. dxe5 white gets his piece back and obviously has a winning attack against blacks king stuck in the centre.
