Sometimes black wins, sometimes white wins, but it isn't rubbish.

You really seem to understand the initiative. You know, it's funny how different the styles of different players can be: When I was 1700-1800 USCF, I would probably struggle to play a game like that -- I was very materialistic, afraid of literally any sacrifice that did not get the pawn back or mate in a forcing sequence (checks only ). Only now do I think I would be fine with sacrificing all of those pawns and castling quickly. But there are much weaker players who, depending on their style, don't have trouble sacrificing pawns or pieces at all (although their attacking attempts tend to be more reckless). You should be very proud of your ability to look at things other than material, because it can be very hard for some people! It will serve you very well.

'Blackburne's Mate' ?  Never heard of that one before but thanks for the lesson - it's mildly terrifying. You don't properly see it coming until it's on top of you.

It looks as if the only immediate defense is to be counter-intuitive & move the white king towards danger on h2 & then h3 after ...Ng4+. That seems to delay black's attack because he can't bring his queen to h4 just yet but I think I see the counter-play:  ...Qc8 with ...Nxf2 on the next move & the queen mating on g2 or g4.
There's no defense against it that I can find. 

The more I look at this, the more impressed I become - it's deadly.

A really nice game and finish. I never heard of the Blackburne mate before but this is definitely one to remember. This game goes in my EG games collection!
