Here's an awesome game I recently played. It's a great example of a 'vicious counterattack'...

What do you guys think?

I think it's a great win, and i'm not trying to stir the pot, but f5 is not black's best reply in the king's gambit.

Have you ever even played against it (2. ...P-KB4!?) before?

Knowing that chess is psychological warfare par excellence, and that White is intending to attack you, wouldn't there be no better way to counter him than to put him in virtual 'zugzwang' and make him defend rather than attack?

Furthermore, I doubt that a 'refutation' exists for a line that someone as venerable as Greco brought about centuries ago...

The Panteldakis will never be extinct, as Black has many other fun ways to play, including 3. ...Q-K2 (a quieter, more positional alternative) and 3. ...P-K5!? (an even wilder line played by Kamran Shirazi!)

I agree, best for black is simply taking the pawn, not f5.

Also, 6.Be2 is better than Kd1.

The sac was definately NOT sound. Black goes from relative equality to clearly losing.

11.d4 is not best either, it gives away much of white's advantage. Far better is Nf3

12.Qd3 gave away most of the rest of white's advantage. Better was to take the pawn with Bxf4

14...Bg7? better was Bg4+

15.Qd2? is inferior to Qa5+ followed by Qe1

16. Ne2?? loses instantly, much better was Be2

16...Bh6?? throws away the entire advantage. Better was the obvious and immediate f3!

18. Qc3! and black has nothing better than repeating Bf5-g4-f5 while white plays Qc3-d3-c3

19. Qe1 is best shot for white to stay in the game.

I don't agree with everything u said, RyanMK... furthermore, Manchester United should have lost to Manchester City, or at least drawn... it's all Chelsea this year!

I'm sure both sides had better earlier, but this is 'typical play', which leads to interesting positions. Remember, just running a position through Fritz won't give you the true spirit of the flow of play...

Are you kidding? The ONLY reason that it was close is because Foster is one of the worst keepers in the league and I can't even begin to explain Ferdinand's thought process. I'm pretty sure possession in the second half was something like 70-30. Meanwhile Chelsea has escaped with a few last second wins over subpar teams.

Whatever... I still don't think you're right about Chelsea, as they did win the Community Shield , but hey... I'm just sure that you'll be missing a certain Portuguese forward come when Real wins the UEFA champions League... this year, they have no weaknesses!
