Just played what must be one of the craziest 15-minute games ever. Neither one of us are any good at chess, so I'm sure the experts will be shaking their heads at some of the dumb moves.

Anyway, I can't look at this game without laughing, so I thought I'd share. The fun starts around move 17. White eventually won on time.

Cheers. -dunce

Did  the word "draw" ever pop into mind? Unless I'm missing something, it looks like the last capture was on move 35, the last pawn move on move 37. By move 88, either player should have been able to claim a draw. One should have been agreed upon even before that.

lol yeah i was thinking about that for the last 40 moves or so. but his clock was ticking, and he seemed content to keep playing.

isn't there a rule in chess about an automatic draw if the same position is held 3 times in a game? does that have to be consecutive or not? i'm sure we must have had the pieces in the same postion 3 times at some point.

Again, it has to be claimed. It's not automatic. And the repetition does not have to be consecutive, though it can be hard to remember repetitions if they aren't at least close to consecutive.

i was hoping for an even 100 moves . . . he let the last 20 seconds of his clock run out at 96 moves.

It does surprise me that the guy didn't offer a draw. I probably would have accepted, even though it was apparent he would lose on time if we continued playing.
