I've played this line with white, not sure how the text goes though.

In my game I played 6.Qf3 Qxf3 7.gxf3 dxc6 and white will have semi-open g file for the rook and possibilty for the white bishop to go to h3 square. Only problem I see is f2 square, but I might be wrong.

In your game though, white maybe thought of bringing the bishop to g2 square, but immediately ran into trouble. Therefore, I think bring queen to e2 square might have been a mistake, blocking the bishop and losing valuable time.

No - 22. Kf2 escapes.   But I initially thought the same thing when I watched it play out.

Cool game by the way - a lot of interesting exchanges!

interesting line.hhmmm...just realized this transposed into a Scotch Game!(the normal move order is 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4) then it continues 3...exd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6.so yeah...the Nimzowitch Defense has some transpotitional qualities.

yeah fianchetting just seems like an afterthought and just plain wrong in this type of position....I can just start the pawn storm and mow him over.....but my opponent played well up until a certain point.

thanks guys....I like this defense as a lot of unusual positions come upSmile

I don't like 12.  f5 it obviously worked out well in the game so congrats.  But, after simply bxc5 and q-h5 at a glance white looks better to me.  Especially since after n-f7 then exf and black is in trouble

14...Rg8 runs into 15.Qf3 and I'd be forced to swap queens or lose a full rook...didn't wanna swap queens Tongue out

Or you could just take the queen since his bishop is pinned.

You might not be one, but usually when a player says they're 'awesome' or something similar, they are either terrible, or cheaters. I remember in school all the kids that thought they were 'awesome' at chess. They would hang pieces left and right and I beat them easily.

A good player will realize how many flaws he has.

Wow, nice sacs... [this is a compliment] it reminds me of a game where someone gave up a queen and pawn to lure the WHITE king to the SIXTH rank! Then he proceeded to mate White, so the Queen sac was worth it. And he actually got back all his material due to a windmill.
