This is by far the most brilliant game my dad has ever played to this date. That's y its his immortal game in my view. His opponent was a very respectable 1601 and he was 1284 at the time. The way in which this was played has shown me his skills are improving and the reading chess books and lessons from me are starting to pay off. But this is far better then i would or he would have expected. So congrats dad and very fine display of chess, one to remember.

thank you my son and i looked in the book and some of your ideas are there but i thought what i did was just as good i feel that i only won because of him moving that pawn at the end game but i will keep reading this book as it helps me to understand how you and many others get up there in the 1800+ rating i am prould of this win and hope i can still win many more but you know what i am like at times so win or lose i will try and remember what you have showen me

nice game, but the opening played is not the Fried Liver.

Italian Game: Two Knights Defense, Fried Liver Attack (C57)

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 d5 5.exd5 Nxd5 6.Nxf7

So what is it called then mr second_wind? because it sure seems to be the fried liver attack to me.

Just on the opening, Ng5 is the  mainline in the two knights defense.  It's perfectly sound, for white at least, and was played by some pretty good players!  I think Bobby Fischer played this move.  The question is, is it sound for black who in playing the two knights defense offers a pawn sacrifice.  It doesn't become the fried liver until after black allows it with 5...Nxd5?! and white plays Nxf7!? the fried liver sacrifice. 

Pretty end to the game.  Always nice to see heavy pieces cooperate with a bishop like that, with the nice piece placement and open lines.
