I played this game against fritz 11 just a couple minutes ago.  It was a 4 minute with 2 second increment game, except I overstepped my time pretty early on.

That being said, beating or even drawing fritz is extraordinarily difficult even for a grandmaster, so if I had drawn or won the game it would have been amazing.

What happened was we played a pretty good game.  Somehow the darn beast got an edge against me and I struggled to get something, and died.  The game was 37 moves long.

The difference between the way I play against engines now and before is that now my game is much more solid.  I used to get completely refuted tactically very early on against fritz or Rybka.  Now my games end by me basically getting pushed back, getting tied down, being forced to be

defensive, etc.

At the end of the game, it said "I was lucky this time.  But you didn't make it easy".

Thank you, Fritz.

Well, you did not mention whether it was rated game ( if so then rating ?) or in some other mode. And when you over step time it automatically goes to friendly mode. Any master or stronger player will win against fritz11 usually if it is set to lower level. But even at lowest level it plays very strong game and it is difficult for an amature to beat it. In fact it plays as usual at lower level too but commits  mistakes after 10 moves or so. If you can size that oportunity and keep playing strongly you can win .

Arunchess thanks for your explanation, I was not aware of how fritz works.

Please tell me how I can play it in a game in which it plays at its strongest level during blitz chess.

If it was at friendly mode, then it had the setting it has ON THE FIRST GAME OF THE INSTALLATION, instead of a modified rating customized to me.

There is an option in one of the menus to "Optimize Strength" that you can use to make sure Fritz is set to whoopass mode.  After selecting it you should play a Rated blitz game and that should do the trick.
