This game started off fine for me (black) - I got up material. If I had just sat back and played slowly, I believe I would won much easier than I did. Instead, I decide to rush in for more material, leaving a bishop completely hanging. Tell me what you guys think! Smile (I'm having trouble flipping the board in the game, so it'll show white at the bottom)

Hi - I didn't go through the whole game but surprised by the number of pawn moves, rather than developing pieces. I don't know all the openings, I just go by the old rules to develop your pieces and try to get control of the centre. Next I usually try to get the opponent to double up pawns (right now I have a game going where my opponent has 3 pawns on one file! ) then, while you can't count on it of course, wait for the opponent to make a mistake or allow an opening.

Minimizing your pawn moves in the opening is mainly a guideline rather than a set in stone rule. There are many opening in which you make many pawn moves, such as the Four Pawns attack in the Alekhine defense.

Yeah, 10...Nxc3 looks a bit dangerous with the possibility of the white queens double-attack. 10...Nd6 and black has a quite nice advantage it seems.

Doesn't 16...Nb1 seem a bit stronger? I'm not so sure about 16...Nxa2. You're already down material and I don't see any real pressure on white with the Nxa2 continuation.

White also has a mating attack with 38. Ra7+ Kxa7 39. Qa5+ Kb7 40 Bd5+ etc...there had to be something there with all those pieces floating around an exposed king.

But, hey, it was an extremely epic game and you did very well to battle through that kind of complexity. Very instructive opening and well worth going over.
