This is honestly one of the best games of chess I've ever played. From the initial confidence, to the hopelessness, to the final brilliant counterattack, games like this are why I play chess. Have a look:

Wow, fantastic game!  And very nicely annotated as well; good job.

I'd disagree with the comment on white's 10th move, though... Qxc7 may defend the knight and win another pawn, but pawns aren't what white needs; it's development.  So I don't think Qxc7 is "clearly" the best move; d4 would have served him much better.

Frantic Frenetic Fun.

This is the kind of game that always works out well for the other guy when I'm playing.

Wicked Wild Weoponized Whooshing.

But dude, just go 19. ...g6 and you could already be enjoying a Whopper value meal.   True, then the sacrificing parade doesn't get to reach its bloody climax,  but hey those bishops like to live through these skirmishes once in a while, same as everybody else!   Just ask them!

Also, I'm guaranteed to not see what's meant when the notes say "Obviously, exchanging queens is fatal for black..."

Spiffe, if White plays P-Q4 (d4) Black can attack the queen with P-Q4 (d5). Afterwards my computer said that QxP (Qxc7) was best by a good margin.

HOWEVER: In the end you probably are correct, because computers are known for mindlessly grabbing material. I see your point. But come on, OVER THE BOARD, that clearly looks like the best move, doesn't it.

And ILLYRIA, here's what I meant when I said, "Obviously, exchanging queens is fatal for Black":

19. g5 with the pawn would have got the mate faster without having to mate with only the pawns and queen. Still, great game.  The latvian gambit... wow, quite risky, but must be really fun to play.  I would really have to study this more before i would actually use it, but such a decisive counter-attack is quite inspiring. Just read the article with all of the people's comments discouraging this gambit, but really, if you can make it work, it is quite amazing and shows that position can really be more important than number of pieces.

Great! Both 19... Nf6# and 19... g6# were at your disposal, but you didn't play any of those! I also did something very similar once:
