LOL, I played this one guy on Live Chess recently... I was White and  played a king's gambit, bishop gambit on him, and he was talking trash about the opening the whole time. I sacrificed a piece, and ended up losing on time in a position where I thought I might even be winning... it was very double edged! Anyways, so in a 'rematch' I had Black and pulled out a Latvian Gambit...  he then played his moves very quickly and was soon cursing at me! My only response was that I speak on the chessboard LOL! He made me wait the whole period for the time to run out, but it was worth it; here's another one of my 'miniatures'

Hey, guys, just to clarify... I WAS BLACK in this game (notwithstanding the heading)--sorry for the confusion!

After my 7th move, he literally made me wait for all his time to run out, as after K-Q1 (Kd1), forced, Black plays R-Kt1 (Rg1) with both a theoretically 'won game' and an attack to boot!

8. Kd1 Rg8 9. Qf4 .... and Black's still behind on material (not sure who is winning, there's a game to be played). I think your opponent was so mad at you playing the Latvian Gambit that he wasn't thinking straight.

Prawn black would only be down a pawn in this varition, and he has the intiative

Yes, I can see that, hence:

"not sure who is winning, there's a game to be played"

and not:

"with both a theoretically 'won game'"

As white I have 100% score against the latvian gambit ( on chess.com ) so I am not too impressed by this rather "trashy" opening ! Surprised

I have to say that I have faced this strange gambit often enough since coming to Europe that I was forced to learn a little about it. I have tried 3 white moves after 2....f5 ?! : 3 Bc4 , 3 exf5 and only recently settled on 3 Nxe5 which I think is whites best move though I still have faith in 3 exf5. My original ( and natural for me ) response of 3 Bc4 has been abandoned as the positions resulting from this move are too bad for my blood pressure !

I also have 100% against the latvian, and am not impressed by the trashy opening.

LOL yeah, I think in this game I forgot that R-KKt1 (Rg8) should come before BxP ch. (Bxf2+)... however, I still think that Black has the edge due to the exposed queen...

ROFL at fact that my opponent was rated 300+ points higher than me... so evidently, 'your own size' means that as you get a higher rating you are more susceptible to the Latvian?? Also, in a recent tournament I had a perfect score with Black against very strong opponents (most higher-rated than myself)... but NOT a perfect score (or even close!) with White. I'll admit, I fail many times--an example is in the Svedenborg when after:

5. ...P-Q4! 6. Q-R5 ch. P-KKt3 7. KtxP PxKt 8. QxR K-B2 9. Q-Q5!

And now I played 9. ...Kt-QB3?? because I forgot that you have to play the quite obvious 9. ...B-K3! First...

But on several sites, now I've been confronted by attacks on my strategies, theories, way of life, etc. LOL not exactly but you get the picture!

So, I'm used to it... even though I haven't been attacking anyone else's opening ideas... by the way, it's not wrong in the least to say what you guys are saying, I just find it funny because that's what the Latvian Gambit is all about--letting your opponent get a seemingly 'winning'  attack or positional advantage, and then watching it all dissolve in front of their eyes...

This opening is known to be bad. Showing a game with an opponent floundering in the opening does not change that.

Gambitking, you listed yourself as the white side in your set up. If you were playing black you should reverse the order.

Obviously, the Latvian not only angers your opponent, but a whole bunch of other people as well

Claiming it's good is what angers others. I would be very happy to see it played against me.
