Live Game: Smothered Mate

Here's a Live game I played on this website.  Despite the fact that I made a few mistakes, it's worth looking at for two reasons, 1.  Decent defence against a blitzkrieg queen attack.  Don't let those people who bring the queen out early ruffle your feathers.  2.  I managed a cool smothered mate at the end.  I wouldn't have seen that had I never worked on tactics problems on this site and with books!  So study up people!

Oh, I was claiming no originality.  I said above that I probably wouldn't have seen that mate if I hadn't encountered the pattern before several times in tactics problems.

yes, a good game. I've seen many slight variations of this mate. A lot of mistakes by both sides, as you say. But I can't believe players are still taking the Queen with the Rook instead of the King!

You can't take the queen with the king because it is protected by the knight the rook take is forced.
