    nice mate!

I once got this in an online 5-min game (there were other pieces on the board as well):

In a USCF game this position arose...and my opponent (unfortunately) played 40 Ke3 (not allowing 40 Kg3 h4#).  That's the nicest mate I can ever remember (almost) getting in actual play...

    Wow, you almost got to bishop! (and there's 8 Ra4+ Kg5 9 Rg4+ Kf5). Laughing

    Yeah... the really cute line was 7. ... Rf1+ followed by 8. ... Kg3, with 9. ... h2 mate coming.

    The game is here: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/game-showcase/a-study-like-endgame

Neither have I. As strange as it sounds... I went to bed tired (I play three days per move) and I woke up around 3 AM with that Rook-sac idea in my head. I had to run downstairs to the computer (in my underwear) to make sure it worked.
