GNU Chess, is for most a very hard computer. I can now beat it 2 out of 3 times I play, I used to find it fairly hard. I have heard of several people saying that is there a way to make it easier.

Anyway, here is my fastest mate against it, if anyone has made a faster one please post. Just click save to get the PGN.
On the Free Internet Chess Server (freechess.org), GNU Chess 5.04 running on a Cyrix 166Mhz processor (Pentium 200MHz equivalent), with default settings attained a blitz rating of above 2100.

On a 2.4Ghz Pentium 4 with 512MB of RAM "nextgnu" on FICS attained standard rating of 2296, a Blitz ranking of 2237, and a Lightening rating of 2513 (Oct 2004).
I should say that I was playing easy though, which i would say is probably arround 1100. 1000 to 1200 on chess.coms ratingsystem, imo.

It comes with linux by default, if you have window or mac I got this from google
