Alright, let's see here.

Board display annoyingly large? Check.
No attention given to annotation? Check
Irritating insistence on posting EVERY game he plays? Check
Incredibly low rated opponent (>1200)? Check

Just wondering what I thought of it?

chess_lifelong:

My understanding is that there is a cshowcase/analysis forums. Some are as follows;

  • don't post every game you play, instead, post unique games whereby you can point to some interesting feature, a certain tactical flourish, perhaps an odd endgame.
  • if you expect other members of the site to take the time to analyse your game, you must demonstrate some willingness to put effort in yourself to that end, i.e. annotate the game as fully as you can. Explain why you chose to make the moves you did.  Even members like myself, who likely cannot provide deep analysis into your games are still happy to watch games that have been "narrated". In instances wherein you won the game, the game should include compelling elements that you can point out.
  • Please use smaller boards in the future. The fact that the large board doesn't fit well on my screen means I will not watch it right off the bat. The normal size is good.
  • Posting your wins wherein it was effortless for you to beat your opponent is both boring and bragging. Members will be more likely to comment on your games if they're a) hard fought, b) a loss when you don't know why it was that you lost and would like to find out. You're rating over 1700. It's percieved as odd that you would post a game where you beat someone below 1200.
  • All of these factors combined are why your posts are being dismissed as hogwash right off the bat.

you won by white running out of time!?   and as far as I can tell the position appears pretty even... it's not like you were clearly on your way to victory and mondares_19 resigned... he could have had a heart attack at the keyboard for all we know.. (has anyone heard from him... do we know if he is alright?)

btw...  I agree with Rael on most of his points, but on the point of the board being to large?  I think that's just personal preference

I was directed to this by someone else and frankly was expecting an interesting game/annotation, either very good or so bad it was good, in fact of course it is simply the replies that are so worthwhile.  Chesslifelong surely to goodness as a 220 BCF / 2360 ELO player you can annotate better than that and surely you can tell it's not an interesting game?  If I only won on time against an under 1200 player I wouldn't be putting it up here for view. The only thing that made me react at all was the bit where you said white lost on time........it reminded me of those shaggy gog jokes that go on forever and then have a purposedly designed groan inducing punchline.

If you were back at Eton and submitted that as class material I would write "Must do better"
