Maybe there should be some kind of advertisement on the online chess page because I'm not sure many people come look at the forum and now the announcement is down a few topics.

I think that's not the only problem. I think a Chess.com-only game of the week just won't work yet. Either change it to Game of the Month or something similar with more time than one week, or change the rules that it doesn't have to be a game played on Chess.com. Sure, alot of games are finished on Chess.com every week... But when you eliminate all the games played by players who don't participate in the forums (maybe 90%), and eliminate all games that were dull, or finished due to time-outs, then you won't have many games left. Really, I also finished quite some games on Chess.com now, but most were pretty dull.

If you really want quality games to be nominated and elected, then I think you should either allow more games (games played somewhere else) or give people more time between "elections".

Maybe Erik could get the chess.com Game of the Month up, and once that's running, he could add an all-inclusive Game of the Week?

"I personally think it should definitly be games played on chess.com"

I agree. Anything else is pointless.

"But when you eliminate all the games played by players who don't participate in the forums (maybe 90%), and eliminate all games that were dull, or finished due to time-outs, then you won't have many games left. "

Why is the forum the only place that advertises for it. Why not have small, unobtrusive buttons on the board window of every game where a player can click on "Submit game as Game of the Week" and "Vote for Game of the Week"

I think maybe an "expert" volunteer(s) may be required just to review all the games submitted.  Maybe that would free up some time for the admins.

The game of the week process is not what I expect for chess.com.

  • I like it more when there is a button "Submit for game of the week" on every game I browse or view in our online chess, or personally submit PGN format like our current process.
  • Then for voting process, can we put something like the survey page in homepage of chess.com. Just by clicking the option button then click vote button.

If the problem is viewing the board games, we can use frame pages, having a master page and clicking the link list of board games then the specific frame will update the board. Still on that page not changing the whole page while clicking the link list of board games.

We can borrow the survey page for voting process of game of the week, and at the same time the chess.com browser can see it.

This is just an idea not forcing chess.com right away to put this on. Wink
