Here is a game I played recently. Its one of the first games I've played with such a total committment to assaulting the enemy King. Comments, suggestions, refutations are welcome.

It was pretty to see the Bishops come out like that on move 4. I had few questions until move 13. The Rook move didn't seem productive. Instead, I would have prevented the attack on my King Rook, by doing 13. f3 instead. Then on move 25, Qa4 seemed to me to be too early, but I don't know what I would have done instead. Still, thanks for the interesting game.

12_string, thanks for your reply. My reason behind moving the rook to c1 on move 13 was to indirectly target the enemy King. I was planning to sac the N or B pretty early on.

When he took my pawn on move 14, I decided to sac my R for the attack. I figured I was gaining the initiative and a tempo by moving to a4. Also, there was no way to save the rook, only lose the exchange. I chose to attack instead. In the end, I had 5 peices infiltrating the enemy position as compensation for my rook.

Wow!  I have to give you major major standing ovation for the rook sac.

However I don't think your follow up move with Nb5 was good at all and gave the game back to black.  White could play Nc6 attacking your queen and your attack loses all it's power.

Really nice Rook sac though and bravo on the aggressive play and also nice follow up mate when he didn't respond correctly.  Really very very nice!

Thanks Immortal. Means a lot coming from a player of your level.

This is what I had planned for 17...Nc6 18. Bxe6+ fxe6 19. Rxc6 Bxc6 20. Bxc7

Does Black have any refutation to this line? It looks like everything is forced, with Black losing the game or his queen soon.

Very nicely done :)

I think on move 17, black could save himself with Nc6 but other than that, it's a beautiful attack! :)

BTW, 17...Nc6 18. Bxe6+ fxe6 19. Rxc6 Bxc6 20. Bxc7 Bxb5.  White is lost.

Nicely done. I think 20.Nd5! ends things quicker. This attacks his queen but the real threat is the Qb8# -- if I'm not mistaken there's a forced mate (5 or 6 moves deep) from there.

Ahh good point Borgqueen. Didn't see that. Glad he missed Nc6, then.

JG, yeah, looking at it now the Nc6 is pinned and can't stop the mate on c8.

Tbh, I missed 17 ... Nc6 the first time round too... it was only when I was looking at it again for something to save black after the rook capture that I saw it.
