I also think that after 22...c4 followed by 23. Nb4 with intention to trade pawns on c2 with Black's a-rook on b8 is something black should have considered.

dont know what black thought he was doing in the opening. Anyways, e5 was not a good idea because black closes with ...d5. In the modern hippo, which is similiar to this position, black is trying to lure white into closing the centre. However, this black player had no idea what he was doing.
