Yeah true I didn't see that, I would have take the knight with the pawn and he would have another move to prevent the mate

I corrected it for Nxe5 but how does dxe5 prevent mate?

Then 8...d6 becomes a possibility, and 8...e8 is safe also.

The queen can't do the move 9 Qf7 with the f pawn still blocking.
