The opponent I played against really wasn't very good, but I liked the mate at the end:

Many a mate has been set up by forcing the opponent to move a piece into a K's opposite-diagonal squares.

Why didn't you try 14. Be5? He has f6 to defend, but at that level it's worth a shot, and you can still Bxc7 after that

I thought it was a waste of time, I wanted to get my queen and rook into the action and finish him off
