Don't beat yourself up over bad games. I walked through the game and noticed somethings to pay close attention to. White needed to develop in a bold manner. On the second move, White should have moved to d pawn for control of the center. There is nothing wrong with developing the Knight. However, f someone hands you central control, take it.
Taking Black's d pawn was good, while bringing Black's Queen out was a howler?? The next move should have been to drive the Queen back. Nc3 on move 4 would have cost Black tempo and developed a minor piece at the same time. Bishop to e2 should only be played if the King is in check. Move 6, bringing the other Knight out pushes the Queen away and costs Black tempo.
I question why you moved the Bishop on move 9. It would have been great if the Knight under attack was pinned to a valuable piece (rather than dead space). When I make these comments, please don't think I'm being critical. I've had more bad games than good so I know all about this type of game from personal experience.
I think basic opening prinicipals played at full throttle would have been the plan. I can't help but wonder why Black's Queen was running all over the place from the start. One of opening principles I teach my kids is never bring the Queen out early or you'll have all of your opponent's minor pieces going after it.
So the computer played Black. What program are you using and what level was the computer playing at? I'm curious because the moves remind me of Chessmaster's plethora of computer opponents with low ratings.
I was playing Little Chess Partner actually, on rating 1200.
