So I never tried to play chess while drunk before. I thought it was time to try a little experiment. I chose to play a random 5-minute blitz game with no restrictions. I ended up getting the black pieces against a Bulgarian. In spite of being barely able to focus on the board and merely reacting to my opponent's moves (too drunk to even think of game plans), somehow I ended up winning after spending less than two minutes on my moves. I didn't know whether to laugh or to feel bad for the other player (laughing won out as I was drunk of course).

My hypothesis is that some basic tactics come from subconcious memory rather than higher analysis function.

Important stats:

Booze: Absolut 100 proof Vodka

Drunk level: Sleepy and stumbling

Thoughts during the opening: "I have no idea what I'm doing".

Thoughts during the middlegame: "I'll bet he plays Bf4 when I move the queen to defend the e6 pawn. I got surprise for him!"

Thoughts during the endgame: "LOL!"

Time taken for my moves: 1 minute and 50 seconds

I'm guessing his opponent resigned. He was about to win no matter what white did.

Haha I played drunk blitz - great fun but play with a hangover... dear oh dear:(

Whoops! Looks like I was still a little tipsy when I posted the game and edited the PGN backwards. I was actually black in the game.

ahh you say that now... only kidding very good.  You're much better than me when you are drunk and I am sober.
