This is yet another recent tournament game where I sacrificed twice without even thinking twice! Read through the funny comments and please give comments on my opponent's behalf (blacks) to see if there was any way to save the game. Otherwise I feel I have played my best game so far and feel there is no stopping me :) Enjoy.
For 24...Nf4+
25. Qxf4 and you've won a piece
because 25... exf4 26.Rxe8#
anyways nice game.
Forced mate in 7 on move 44
Qh7+ Kf8, Qh8+ Kf7, Rh7+ Kg6, Qg8+ Kf5, Rh4 e4, Qg4+ Ke5, Qxe4+
Very nice game! I found I learned a lot from it, especially in the way you favor position over material :)
Just a thought though: I don't think 12.Nd5 was the best.. I think with proper defence black could've taken advantage of that move. Not only does your recapturing 13.exd5 close the open file to his backward pawn, but black might even be able to inflict a backward pawn on YOU by say 13...b5 I beleive
How true... I didn't see that one. In other words, black was, ironically enough, forced to accept my sacrifice!! :) (how often do you hear that...? )
I disagree about the first part, but I totally agree with b5. In fact, in my commentary I made a mistake to have quoted "a7-a5". I meant b7-b5. It was a strong move that black missed, and then I immediately took measures by playing a2-a4 to prevent b7-b5. Look to see...
It is funny, but you employed ideas like I use when I play Bird's opening, pulling Black's pieces to the queenside, locking the center, and then attacking the weakened kingside...but it is very cool to see how the g-and h pawns helped you so much here...and your b3-idea is quite nice! Flexible and it was underrated.
Hi, and thanks for the methodical rolling pin seminar.
I probably would've blundered into a strong counterattack by opening the g too soon instead of keeping it closed & then going for sacrifices.
On 23. Nd2, where you kind of got into trouble, I went back and looked for what else there was to do for white in that position and didn't find a whole bunch. So a rook givaway in the interest of keeping things moving doesn't look so bad there I guess.
