I've run into this trap as well.  :(  The lesson to be learned here is that you should be very careful before putting the enemy king in a situation where he can't move when the opponent has only a rook or queen, since those two pieces can keep checking and taking material without an easy escape (knights and bishops are obviously easier to escape from).  Nice work.
