FIDE rule 12.6 for OTB play.

"It is forbidden to distract or annoy the opponent in any manner whatsoever. This includes unreasonable claims or unreasonable offers of a draw."

Not sure how the staff would respond to this specific case but see here for general information.

Sometimes players come into games that last weeks without saying a word.  I wish there would be at least some comments even if it was meaningless banter. It makes the interaction more entertaining.

    Just my thoughts.

    Hi guys,

I like it when my opponent talks to me.  It makes the game more fun.  If he is offensive (so far has not happened to me) I would disable chat.  I dont mind trash talk, like Mickey07, I find it funny.  Would I have given this guy a draw, no, probably not.  But if it was a legitimate request, such as, 'my game is glitching' or 'I have to go up to dinner' I probably would, unless my opponent was losing badly and I thought he was just making an excuse.

    Watch your backrank.

If it "really annoys me!" how do you "find it quite funny and makes me laugh"?

But yeah, it was a stupid excuse.

I have no problem chatting, (except that Chess.com's chat window doesn't auto-refresh) just don't get offensive. Trash talk is, in my opinion, more funny than anything else, partly because a lot of the people who talk that way have no way to back it up when you call their bluff. But trying to get a draw to avoid a loss is just being a sore loser.

Have you never been annoyed at something and then look back on it and it is funny?
