8.e5 by white doesn't make sense.  White has 3 pieces developed to Black's 0, so it's only natural for white to try to open up the position in order to punish black's lack of development.  8.e5 allows black to close up the position, which gave him enough time to organize his pieces a bit.

Maybe white was a bit thrown off by the odd opening by black?

It's all psychological... It's a 5 minute game, and when you've never seen this... what are you supposed to do

8.e5 is just another way to win (of course 8.ed5 is way better), e.g. 8...f5 9.Nh4 Kf7 10.g4 and Black won't survive for long. The knight sac 10.Nxg6 also looks crushing.

In the game, 10.Nh4 wins again.

Ah, thank you for the explanation.

haha well let em coz it's not breaking any rules. Just scored my third. Its actually a really good tactic for 5min games because the surprise element is immense. I think a lot o fless experienced players will not know how to take advantage of the weaknesses in this opening, especially in very fast games. I'm gonna keep this opening in my repertoire for very fast games as you have to be very sharp to play and have a good ability to rapidly formulate a game plan. You've got a good advantage in that you know how the game is going to go and your opponent doesnt

why dont we have a challenege. Everyone try this opening in 5mins blitz and see who can score the best wins. Post your games here
