The diagram is still not working...

It goes: 1. Nf3 d5 2. c4 (the Reti Gambit) cxd4 3. e3 b5? 4. a4! c6 5. axb5 cxb5 6. Nc6 Qb6

Black's position is hopeless...

Man, I wish my knights jumped from f3 to c6.

I meant 6. Nc3. No need to be a prick.

You are the one who posted the typo, I have the right to question or point it out. No need to be snappy.

You didn't just point it out. You were an ass about it.

And people call me a troll...

I disagree.

The point is that 3. b5? in the Reti Gambit is a bad move.

The Reti gambit happens in the french actually.

After 1.e4 e6 2.b3, this is the Reti gambit.

What I think you mean is that 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3.e3, and here b5 deserves the supposed "?", and rightfully so. White has many ways of approaching this position.

Or in yereslov's words: "6.Nc3 nor 6.b3 does not refute black's setup"

Your sentence seems choppy. What are you trying to say?

I thought you would know. Anyhow, I am untracking. Good day.

If you're saying that 6. Nc3! is not a refutation, then I must disagree.

I dont know. It seems like you're saying that 6. Nc3 or 6. b3 is not a refutation, but that doesn't make any positional sense.

t_taylor

thanks for the info, will try to keep that in mind.  I don't often get takers when offering pawns, though.

...

The Reti Gambit happpens after 1. Nf3 d5 2. c4.

You can look at any opening database.

At the start it is the Reti, regardless of what it transposes into.

So 1. f4 e5 2. e4 is not a Kings Gambit, but Birds Opening?

against 1...Nc6 there are many tries...2.e4, 2.c4, 2.b3, 2.g3 like you played, but i like the simplest 2.d4 going into a chigoriin...

Agreed. I mated a 1963-rated player in fifteen move in that line (1. Nf3 Nc6 2. d4 transposing to a Chigorin)

It's a better version. The mainline is pretty much refuted.
